America Makes Fast Quilts

That’s us! That’s us on the cover! *jumping up and down* You can also see bits of our quilts in the photo!!

We are so excited to be included in this special issue, America Makes Fast Quilts! This issue is right up our alley with our “go-go-go” attitudes. Quick but still special – these are our mainstay quilts!

Today we get to show off our three projects in the magazine!

I always love working with Kate Spain fabric, and I thought the gray solid would help her fabric pop! With a mixture of blues, magentas, purples and yellows this quilt will work with most home décor. Since Pick Up Sticks is a strippy quilt, it works well with 2 ½” strips. Have a little fun in your living room with the Pick Up Sticks quilt!

I named this quilt Funfetti because it just looks like a party to me. Patty Young’s Textured Basics puts the wow in these simple blocks, which are fat quarter friendly. Use a variety of prints, and mix and match to your heart’s delight. Altogether you get a quick, modern quilt with endless possibilities. Try it with all striped prints, or solids. I would love to see what you come up with! For our version in Textured Basics, we have kits available!

I love Odds & Ends because of the flipped color values – dark and light greys and taupes give you a sophisticated and smoky quilt. I also love how scrappy it looks – and again, it’s made with fat quarters! This one comes out rather large, for a fast lap quilt that will keep several laps comfy. My favorite part is the offset border effect; it definitely makes it unique and different. You don’t have to stick with a monochromatic look though – try some brights or batiks, they would look excellent here as well. For our Portico version, kits are available here!
